Q: I have 2 stants implanted.

  • Do you have cardiologists in the hospital?
  • Do you have a heart rhythm group as I did suffer from rhythm disturbances? (I did a pulmonary vein isolation procedure).
  • Do you have a chest pain unit to quickly serve in case of a heart attack or any coronary blockages?
  • Do you have a heart catheter? (I would like to have a check-up every 2 years).

A: This has reference to your queries regarding the facilities at BSH:

  • Yes, there are 2 cardiologists in this hospital, either of whom is on call round the clock.
  • There is no heart rhythm group in this hospital. Rhythm disturbances are treated by the cardiologist with appropriate medications.
  • There is a chest pain unit in the hospital to manage acute chest pains. However there is no cardiac catheterization laboratory where angioplasty and procedures like pulmonary vein isolation could be done. When patients come with sudden heart attacks, they are given clot breaking medications for which we have the necessary infrastructure

Q: I would like to find out the timings to have a 4D Ultrasound?  I am 13 weeks pregnant and would like to have a nuchal test as well as a 4D scan done.  Please advice the suitable times. 

A: The best time to do a 4D Ultrasound is from 28 – 32 weeks.
A nuchal lucency thickness test can be done at your present pregnancy stage.

Q: What is the cost of liposuction for hips and thighs? I’m 22 and my heavy hips and thighs are inherited (I am not over-weight but slightly pear-shaped).The most important question is how long does the surgery take approximately? Do I have to stay at the hospital after the surgery? Are there any risks or side effects involved?

A: Yes I do liposculpture of the thighs and hips. It works well for this area. The skin seems to contract well after fat removal. It’s done as a day procedure under local anesthesia and sedation. It takes about 3 hours surgical time but depends on the area involved. Normally patients go home by the evening.
You should expect swelling and bruising post surgery for about 2 weeks.
You have to wear a lipogarment for 4 weeks post the operation.
