The Minister of Health officially Opens the 1st Gastroenterology & Hepatology Conference and the 1st Clinical Ultrasonography Course “Hands-On Abdominal Ultrasound for the Clinicians”
Under the guidance of His Majesty King Hamad Bin Isa Al-Khalifa, His Excellency Minister of Health / Dr. Faisal Bin Yaqoob Al-Hamar inaugurated the 1st Gastroenterology & Hepatology Conference and the 1st Clinical Ultrasonography Course “Hands-On Abdominal Ultrasound for the Clinicians”, which were also under His Excellency’s patronage, on Tuesday 30th & Wednesday 31st of March, 2010 and were organized by Bahrain Gastroenterology & Hepatology Center and Bahrain Specialist Hospital, in collaboration with some of the leading pharmaceutical companies. HE the Minister of health inauguration commenced by attending the Opening Ceremony Dinner that was organized in his honor and was attended by the speakers and doctors that participated in the conference and the training course.
The Opening Ceremony commenced by a welcoming speech delivered by Dr. Kasim Ardati / Bahrain specialist Hospital CEO followed by the medical event’s speech which was delivered by Dr. Najah AL Zayani / Gastroenterology & Internal Medicine Consultant. On her behalf, Bahrain Specialist Hospital and all the sponsors, Dr. Najah Al Zayani expressed the gratitude and appreciation of the guidance of His Majesty and the patronage of HE the Minister of Health. In addition, Dr. Al Zayani stated the need for continuing education in order to keep the physicians abreast of the latest developments and innovations in the medical field. Doctors she said should strive continuously to develop their medical knowledge and professional performance, in order to provide better health services to the patients and the community. After the speeches, the Organizing Committee presented to HE the Minister of Health a shield to commemorate the event and as a token of their appreciation and gratitude for HE generous patronage of the event.
The 1st Gastroenterology & Hepatology Conference was set up in the Bahrain Medical Society in Juffair, for the period from 30th to 31st March, 2010. The conference tackled many different topics related to Gastroenterology and Hepatology, as well as presentations and discussions of medical statistics on related diseases in the Kingdom of Bahrain in particular and in the GCC countries in general, treatment, diagnostic techniques and the latest technologies & professional practices associated with them.
Simultaneously with the 1st Gastroenterology & Hepatology Conference, the 1st Clinical Ultrasonography Course “Hands-On Abdominal Ultrasound for the Clinicians” was taking place at the Bahrain Specialist Hospital Medical Library in Juffair, from 30th to 31st March, 2010. The course addressed training General Practitioners and Internal Medicine Doctors on the diagnostic uses of the ultrasound machines.
In order to develop medical expertise and performances which will reflect positively on treating patients in the community, the organizers hosted distinguished speakers from the United States, Germany, Saudi Arabia and India. Moreover, doctors from several local hospitals in the Kingdom of Bahrain had also participated in the medical activities. The conference's attending physicians received certificates from the American Academy of Continuous Medical Education (AACME), a global institution that had offered the academic recognition for about seven thousand healthcare organizations worldwide, after passing stringent criterion for academic recognition, with high medical standards and requirements. The attendees had also received certificates from the Saudi Commission for Health Specialties, which is a scientific and professional organization set up to be impartial in the assessment of those working in the medical and healthcare fields. It is also renowned for the evaluation of specialized training programs.
